Prayer & Praise Monday – May 13, 2013

We haven’t had any new prayer requests or updates this week, so I wanted to instead take the time to pray for our friends who struggled through another Mother’s Day with a longing in their hearts unfulfilled.

There are those who long to be a mother but have been unable to conceive or give birth to a healthy baby…

There are those who conceived but were unable to provide for their baby and made the courageous choice to place their child for adoption. Those birthmoms, probably feel an emptiness that is particularly painful on Mother’s Day…

Let’s not forget those who have lost their mother or who never really had one…

Dear Lord,
We pray a special prayer of comfort and healing for those women and couples who mark Mother’s Day as another year without. Lord, be near to them and give them Your eyes and Your perspective to see all the ways that You have blessed them. Grant them insight to see how the pain that You have allowed in their lives is working for their good and for Your eternal glory. Draw them closer to You and fill their hearts with joy!

In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen.

If someone you know struggles with the pain of infertility, loss of a baby, or loss of a mother, ask God to show you how you can be an encouragement to them this week. Begin by praying for them and, perhaps, send them a card or email with an encouraging Scripture verse or two. Here are a few ideas for you…

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” (Psalm 34:18 NIV)

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” (Psalm 147:3 NIV)

Prophesying the words of the Lord Jesus, Isaiah says, “The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners…” (Isaiah 61:1 NIV)

“Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy.” (Psalm 126:5 NIV)

Throne of Grace also offers resources specific to encouraging the hearts of those going through infertility or loss. Let us know if we can help!

Make it a great week!molly
