Prayer & Praise Monday – April 1, 2013

Good morning, Prayer Warriors!

Christ is Risen, He is Risen indeed! He returned to the Father and sat down because His work is finished. But aren’t you glad He didn’t leave us alone?

“Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment…When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.”
(John 16:7-8, 13 ESV)

Let’s thank the Lord today for the precious gift of the Holy Spirit to guide us, teach us, comfort us, and convict us. We’ve had quite a few updates from Throne of Grace friends this week. Here are a few more things to pray for…

• Pray for Bonnie Jean as she recovers from a painful root canal. Pray that her recovery would be speedy and that the Lord would sustain her through the pain! Please also continue to pray for God’s provisions as she distributes our Blessing Bags in New Jersey. She has shared that people have been blessed already!

• Meredith has asked for continued prayer as she battles Lyme Disease. Her immune system is still fighting – praise God for that! Pray she will be empowered by the Holy Spirit, even as her physical body is weak.

• My sweet childhood friend, Erin, has asked for prayer for her 1-year-old son, Royce. Royce had some complications at birth, including an interrupted aortic arch in his heart and bleeding on the brain. He has had a feeding tube since birth and it was recently removed. God is good and little Royce is quite a fighter! He is doing very well without the feeding tube – eating solid foods and growing! Erin is asking for prayer that Royce does not have to have surgery to close the feeding tube hole in his stomach and that it will stop leaking on its own. However, if it be the Lord’s will, pray that that surgery and a separate circumcision surgery that needs to be done would go smoothly with no complications to his heart or head. Royce was also recently taken off anti-seizure medication. Erin would also like prayers that Royce would not have any seizures and that she and her husband, Danny, would have wisdom & discernment in determining whether he could be having one. Finally, please pray for wisdom and discernment for all of Royce’s doctors in their treatment of him. Pray the Lord would clearly reveal to them what Royce needs.

• Please pray for Ree. Ree was my teaching partner for many years and is like a second mother to me. We had been praying for her back in February when she fell and broke her wrist just before she was supposed to have hip replacement surgery. Her wrist is now recovered and her hip surgery will be this Wednesday. Please pray for peace and continued trust in the Lord for Ree and her husband, Joe. Pray for a skillful hand for the surgeon and a successful surgery. Ree is a faithful servant for the Lord and we need her back up on her feet quickly!

• Finally, our own Deb is asking for continued prayer for her husband, Ray, as he is on the last leg of his missions trip to Malawi. Pray that the Lord will physically sustain him as it has been a whirlwind trip! Pray for God to be glorified by his remaining time there and that he will have safe and smooth travels home.

So much to lay at our Lord’s feet! So thankful He is ABLE to carry our burdens!

Project Blessing Bags: A Recap

Happy Friday! I’ve been looking forward to this post all week! Project Blessing Bags Assembly Day has come and gone…and all I can say is, “Wow!”

God is amazing. I know that. But boy is it humbling when we get to be a part of something amazing He is doing! He is perfectly capable of working His miracles without any help from us. In fact, probably most of the time, we imperfect and sinful humans just make His work harder to accomplish! (You know, like baking cookies with a 3-year-old?? Enough said.) I just think it is pretty cool when He allows us to be a part of His work and Assembly Day was one of those experiences for me.

Over $2,800 raised in December by 40 families…

With 60 packers coming together, ranging in age from no hair to grey hair…

Ready to distribute to those in need!

Assembly Day was just plain FUN!

PBB Recap 3

No one person funded this project.

Each contributed their “little” – for some that was money, for some, time, some donated supplies, and some will distribute. But, wow! Look how “much” God was able to do with each family’s offering!

Now we get to watch and see what God does with the distribution phase of this project. I actually had an opportunity to hand out my first bag on Wednesday and it was very exciting to have something already prepared and ready to give. The bag was well-received and I’m praying it will have a spiritual impact, as well!

The experience of Project Blessing Bags has taught our family so many lessons. If you’d like to read more about what we’ve learned through this process, stop by my friend Holly’s new blog, It’s a Matter of Moments, where I’m guest-posting today. You can find that story, “Making Much of Little”, HERE.

If you think organizing a Blessing Bags project might be something you’d like to do to make an impact in your community, I’d be happy to share some resources with you to help you get started. Just leave us a comment below! And if you were a part of this Project Blessing Bags, we’d love to hear your perspective and stories about Assembly Day or opportunities you have to give the gift of a Blessing Bag to someone in need. Don’t be shy! Share your thoughts below!

Prayer & Praise Monday – January 21, 2013

Hello, dear Prayer Warriors!

It’s a great Monday! We’re enjoying some extra rest at home on our day off…and better yet, I’ve got wonderful news!

• Praise the Lord for exciting test results for Jacob, our young friend fighting Hodgkin’s Disease. It appears he has won the battle! The PET scan was negative, which means Jacob is officially in remission! We’ve been praying for him for about 4 months now as he has gone through round after round of chemo. God has answered the many prayers offered on Jacob’s behalf! Jacob now has to finish his last round of chemo and wait for his blood counts to come back up (maybe ~ 2 to 3 weeks) and then he will start radiation.  Please pray for patience, as he is so anxious to resume life! He wants to go back to school and start seeing his friends again! Jacob’s mom, Lori, is thankful you for your faithful prayers.

• Another big praise is that our Project Blessing Bags Assembly Day was very successful – and lots of fun! 59 packers, 150 Blessing Bags…Here is a quick preview:

We’ll be sharing more about Assembly Day and the next phase of Project Blessing Bags later this week! I can’t wait to tell you all about it! Please pray for the special recipients of these bags. Pray the Lord will lead us to those who most need the physical and spiritual encouragement contained in our packages. Pray those who distribute bags would be bold and not hesitate to respond to the Holy Spirit’s leading. Pray the Lord would multiply the blessings a hundred-fold! 🙂

• Our friend Meredith continues to seek our prayers for healing of her brain injury and healing from Lyme disease which is doing a lot of damage to her brain and heart tissue.

• Finally, Throne of Grace would love your prayers for God to lead us quickly to solutions to the printer issues that plague us! Pray for wisdom, discernment, and patience as we weigh our options and wait in His timing. Pray we will continue to see God’s faithfulness to not let finicky machines stop the Word of God from going forth!

It is always our joy to be able to lift one another up as we kneel before the Throne of Grace. If you have a prayer need or a praise you want to share to bring God all the glory He deserves, don’t hesitate to contact us!

Be sure to check back on Thursday for a recap of Project Blessing Bags!
