Penelope Lane Boutique – Best Finds!

The Throne of Grace team had a great time last weekend at the Penelope Lane Boutique in Long Beach, California. We had to make a few changes to our display in order to make room for our newest products. More about that another day! I think it turned out pretty cute! (Really Deb and Tami get all the credit!)

It was our first time participating in a large-scale, truly handmade market. That means that all the products sold were handcrafted and not simply resold jewelry, make-up products, etc.

Wow! What a lot of talent! So many fun things all lovingly stitched, glued, stamped, embroidered, painted, carved…BY HAND! That’s not even to say anything about the incredible booths and displays that made all those lovely items look so enticing!

Here are some of our favorites:

Stacy Lynn

I’ve seen Stacy’s work several times at the Queen Bee Market. In fact, I own two of her comfy knit skirts and two dresses. Tami couldn’t help adding this adorable skirt to her wardrobe:

We all loved the sweet Biblical encouragement Tiffany creates at Grace for Grace. This picture doesn’t even show all the prints she makes in her own handwriting that looks like a fancy font! Several of these items have made their new home at Deb’s house.

One of my favorite new shops I found at the boutique is this one:

Bubba’s Basics

Do you know how hard it is to find fun surprises to bring home from a boutique for your SON? Hair bows, jewelry, and tutus just don’t seem to excite him! Bubba’s Basics is the first handmade business I’ve found that is devoted to making creative gear for the little men in our lives. Like this:

A FORT KIT!! I actually made this for all the close friends and cousins this year. Only mine was in a plastic tub. If only I’d known of Bubba’s Basics then! They’ve done all the leg work in gathering the essentials for building fabulous forts – and theirs is WAAAAY cuter than my kits turned out!

Then there was the sweet embroidery Natalie does in her totally vintage shop, Take the Cannoli. I’m still trying to decide which one of these needs to adorn my wall!

And, of course, I can’t forget to mention the ALWAYS amazing display my sister does with her shop, Much Ado About You. Why do I always request to have my booth next to hers?? She just puts me to shame!

Much Ado About You

It was truly a great day! I love all the connections we were able to make with other vendors and with our customers. You’ve gotta love technology – but it is always a blessing to interact face-to-face! We are looking forward to the Fall, which brings many more opportunities to connect at boutiques. Be watching for more information coming soon on where you can come shop Throne of Grace in person!

Scrub-a-Dub-Dub

It’s cleaning day at the Garibaldi house!

We’ve enjoyed a wonderful week with family visiting and now it is time to get the house back in order. As I was cleaning the bathroom today, my heart was convicted. Admittedly, cleaning the bathroom is not my favorite chore. However, one aspect of the task that I do love is that there is such an obvious reward when the work is done. Clearly the bathroom is grimy and dingy, then…clean…clean…clean…and miraculously, it sparkles once again! If I am focused at the task, this can all happen in a matter of minutes!

The scrubbing today made me think: Wouldn’t be wonderful if my heart was as easy to clean? I’ve been so focused today on the housecleaning, but maybe what I really need is some good heart-cleaning!

“Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow…Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.”

(Psalm 51:7, 10 ESV )

Take a minute today to put down the to-do list and check your heart. If you, like me, need a little spiritual scrub-a-dub-dub, rejoice in the fact that we have a Savior who is a miracle-worker! He can clean a heart in an instant – and He doesn’t even break a sweat!
